Perfumery, made real

Every perfume begins somewhere on this planet.

A lavender field in Provence. A wave off the coast. Resin bled from a tree in Somalia. Learn to compose with them — on a bench that shows you exactly what you have made, and keeps it inside the safety limits.

The application

A bench that shows you what you have made

Most blending happens blind — you mix, you wait, you hope. Crafted Scent draws the perfume for you: what each material is doing, when it peaks, how long it lasts, and whether it is inside the limits before you ever pour it.

  • Build by parts, weigh in grams. Any batch size, to the milligram, with the arithmetic done for you.
  • Watch it unfold. Every material's rise and fall on one chart, and how long each one truly lasts on skin.
  • Stay inside IFRA. Category 4 limits checked as you type, including allergens aggregated across naturals.
  • Know your materials. Over 400 of them — what each smells like, what it does, how much to use, who sells it.
  • Ask the Master Perfumer. A perfumer who can read your formula, by typing or by speaking.
  • Keep your shelf. What you own, what you are missing, and what you can make tonight.

This is a craft you do with your hands

Perfumery is not an app, and we have never pretended otherwise. It is blotters and pipettes, a scale that reads to a thousandth of a gram, and a nose that learns by being wrong for a while.

What the studio does is take the guesswork out of the arithmetic and the safety, so the part you spend your evenings on is the part that matters — deciding what a perfume should be.

Introduction to Perfumery

Learn perfumery, step by step — free

Sixty short subjects in three parts take you from your first deliberate smell to a finished bottle you made yourself. All of it free, nothing held back, and worked through in the application beside you.

Nothing ships. You buy your own materials — from suppliers the app names, with the quantities and grades set out for you. Learning to source is part of becoming a perfumer, and it is the part nobody else teaches.

The workshops

Rebuild the great perfumes, together

In five sessions we reconstruct the structures that shaped perfumery — accord by accord — talking through the job every ingredient does as you add it. Taught as archetypes and homages: studies of structure, never branded copies. In preparation.

What we are writing about

Perfumery explained the way it is actually practised — with numbers, and without mystique.

Why your perfume disappears after an hour

It has not faded. The part you built it around has evaporated — and the fix is structural, not a matter of adding more.

Drops are a lie: why perfumers weigh

A drop is not a unit. It changes with the material, the pipette and the room. Here is how to make the switch in a day.
